Animal rescuers
The Baltimore County Fire Department’s Advanced Tactical Rescue Team trained in the emergency rescue of horses, cattle and other large animals at Caves Farm in Owings Mills. Fire fighters and other personnel learned how to handle and rescue large animals caught in burning buildings, floods, mud and other emergency situations. County code enforcement officials are working with business owners and the fire department to curtail unsightly, illegal dumping around trash containers behind Liberty Plaza shopping center. (See full story)

“I’m just getting my family aware of the importance of recycling,” Hazel S. Moore said after dropping recyclables off at the Northwest Recycling Center in Randallstown recently. She didn’t know the center was scheduled to close June 29. (See full story)
Nonprofit animal shelter starts in Owings Mills


Three animal lovers have launched Fur the Love of Paws, a new animal shelter in Owings Mills. The three formed the nonprofit because there are many more adoptable animals needing homes than what existing shelters can handle, they said. (See full story)
